Sella.. went to VOLLEY BALL CAMP in Aviano Italy... about 8hrs north of Naploli...5nights of sleeping on the cafeteria floor!! ( i was the chaperone ) I've been asked by everyone what I thought about the camp..... I wouldn't say that I am an Volley Ball expert... But over the years I have attended MANY sport related camps as a athlete.parent.sport enthusist.planner and I am not afraid or intimidated to ASK QUESTIONS Cons. poor communication to schools poor communication to parents via school reps no evaluation for ability placement..(girls placed themselves-day one should be eval) too much individual school coach involvement (should have had a coaches workshop..) no down time activities planned no team bonding skills taught... (with all teams many of the girls who attended camps were PCSing to another European school or some back to the states...these skills can be utilized anywhere) at least one boy was allowed to compete in around the world tourny,(by the numbers he was not needed) participation award given to all girls in a folder as they checked out.. (could have added in a skill level or a eval of their personal skills and what to work on) Pros. COST $100 sleeping arrangements were made affordable to all transportation to and from airport provided healthy snacks provided Division 3 College Volley ball Coach and staff t-shirt.Volley Ball.water bottle provided No individual awards. Very affordable to everyone... A terrific event that could be extraordinary if the participating schools athletic departments were more involved, supportive and made it available to all student athletes who are interested.
